The television agreement between WWE and NBCUniversal, through which Friday Night SmackDown will make a comeback on the USA Network, also encompasses specials during prime-time.
The half-decade deal mandates WWE to air four specials annually during prime-time on NBC. The WWE has a long-standing tradition of broadcasting enthusiastic content such as Saturday Night’s Main Event and Tribute to the Troops specials on NBC.
WrestleVotes has revealed that WWE will be disclosing its first NBC prime-time special since August 2008 shortly.
The rumour suggests “In the upcoming days, an announcement from WWE is expected, revealing a live prime-time special on NBC. While the venue for the event hasn’t been decided yet, tickets are likely to be available from the following Friday. Inside WWE, there’s a buzz about the event happening on a Saturday night in December. Marking a momentous occasion; this will be the WWE’s first prime-time NBC special since August 2, 2008.”
If the specials turn out to be scheduled for Saturday nights, they might grace under the “Saturday Night’s Main Event” moniker.
