In the recent episode of AEW Collision aired on Saturday night, Deonna Purrazzo and Thunder Rosa engaged in a Texas Bullrope Match in Arlington, Texas. Bully Ray expressed his opinion about the match on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast. Here are some main points from the podcast:
Speaking about how the match was conducted, Ray said, “I believe the effort was definitely there. There were some highlight moments. However, I feel the execution could have been tighter. I appreciate the women’s readiness to bleed and the physicality when they brought it, but sometimes there seemed to be a lack of physicality.”
Reflecting upon the match’s usage of the stipulation, he noted, “The characteristic thing about a submission match is that you can only win through a submission. Similar is the case with an ‘I Quit’ match. Thus, I wish that not just AEW, but all wrestling companies adhered to the traditional stipulation of the [drag] in a Texas Bullrope Match. Currently, it appears as nothing more than a glorified No DQ weapons match where the participants are tied to a bull rope.”
Commenting on the pinfall finish, he remarked, “Thunder Rosa gives Deonna Purrazzo a bulldog through the table, which should suffice to pin her. The agent should have signaled for the finish. The bulldog through the table should have been followed by the 1, 2, 3.
In other news, Bryan Danielson recently shared his favorite wrestling entrance theme songs in an interview with Kerrang!. He expressed his fondness for ‘The Final Countdown,’ ‘Miseria Cantare,’ Steve Austin’s theme, Bullet Club Gold’s song in AEW, and Minoru Suzuki’s track, adding that wrestling songs are most effective when they mesh well with the character and resonate with the audience.
He also discussed his pre-match music selections, revealing his admiration for Frank Turner’s album ‘Positive Songs For Negative People.’ According to him, even the more acoustic songs from this album align with his thoughts and motivations.
