In a fresh interaction with Stephanie Chase, Michael Oku has confirmed his recent communication with Tony Khan, the president of AEW, about potentially being a part of his team.
Michael Oku played a significant role in RevPro’s recent ‘Summer Sizzler’ event on Sunday, where he went head-to-head with MJF for the AEW American Championship. After the match, a surprise return was made by Will Ospreay when MJF attempted a Tiger Driver ’91 on Amira.
Expressing his thoughts about the connection with AEW, Oku articulated, “It’s a tricky question to answer. But yes, communication has been established, which is pretty logical. Earlier this year, I competed against Will, witnessed by Tony Khan. At that venue, I met Tony and had a discussion with him. This match took place with MJF, my promo even got featured on their platforms. They are publicizing it, so there has been collaboration to make these things happen with AEW, so we have been discussing potential future collaborations. For now, that’s all I can share. The idea of winning this title at Wembley Stadium popped into my mind. They don’t necessarily need the title and I can wrestle someone for it at Wembley Stadium. I would absolutely cherish a step-up from last year. It was a great experience to connect with everyone backstage, to be part of something, to have a role in the show. I believe I’ve carved a niche for myself in this country and if there’s a big event happening here and the AEW fans cross over, specifically the UK fans, there would be considerable interest in seeing me perform, even if it’s in a smaller role. Just to have a chance to compete as Michael Oku, as myself on the show. And yes, who knows? There might be surprises at the Casino Gauntlet. Hearing my music play at Wembley Stadium would make me incredibly happy.”
