In his latest YouTube clip, Maven- an ex-WWE Superstar presents an enlightening revelation. He answered a common query among wrestling enthusiasts: Why do wrestlers opt for a leg hook during a pinfall attempt in their matches? To this Maven retorted,
“A pertinent question indeed. It’s all about enhancing the illusion of a real fight; the wrestling legends were exceptional in reinforcing this struggle. Take [Randy] Orton for example- he had a unique way of magnifying the wrestling ‘battle.’ He would seize the leg and almost lay his full weight on the opponent, making it appear as if he’s exerting a ton of pressure to restrain his adversary’s shoulders on the mat for a 1-2-3 pinfall. As Al Snow aptly puts it, ‘The primary goal of a wrestling match is to pin your opponent.’ The more it seems like you’re scrambling, the more it appears like you’re striving to keep your opponent’s shoulders down, the more it convinces the audience at home.”
