Despite not being official yet, speculation is rife about a potential match-up where Cody Rhodes would defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at the WWE Bash in Berlin.
The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes, in the August 9th Friday Night SmackDown kicked things off with a rhetoric emphasizing his victorious retention at SummerSlam. Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline made their entrance, interrupting Rhodes, as Sikoa sought to place himself in line for a rematch–a proposition Rhodes did not entertain.
Cue Kevin Owens, who initially came out to offer support to Rhodes against The Bloodline’s aggression. To this, Rhodes extended a title opportunity to Owens, expressing his wish to see him as the next challenger.
Owens, however, was humble. Citing his recent win-loss record that he felt made him unfit for the top contender spot, he declined. Unfazed, Rhodes remained adamant that Owens deserved the chance, promising to take the matter up with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis backstage.

Update: Backstage chatter reveals that Nick Aldis has plans to discuss the championship situation with Roman Reigns, a move that incensed Owens who vehemently claims Reigns is undeserving. Aldis, seemingly moved, officially confirmed the match between Rhodes and Owens. “I guess I will see you in Berlin,” Owens concluded before walking away.
