Wrestling legend, The Undertaker, who started his illustrious career in WCCW, was recently a guest on “Mighty with Demetrious Johnson” podcast. During his conversation, he shared about how Fritz Von Erich’s brief interaction led to his first professional booking.
Here are some key takeaways from the podcast:
Struggling to get noticed in WCCW: “Every Wednesday, I would sit in the office lobby waiting for the decision maker to notice me. However, I was often overlooked. I was nearing my breaking point as I couldn’t afford even the gas for these trips, ” recalls The Undertaker.
The fortuitous encounter with Fritz Von Erich: “One day, Fritz Von Erich, the owner, walks in. He noticed my persistence and, to my surprise, decided to book me for a Friday night match after a brief conversation. It was surreal,” added the WWE legend.
Start of his professional Wrestling career: “Despite being overlooked initially, I showed up on the promised Friday night as ‘Texas Red.’ That was the first time I received a paycheck as a professional wrestler,” he reminisced.
Elsewhere in the wrestling world, the reigning WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes shared his August schedule on Twitter.
