Mark Andrews, a renowned Welsh wrestler with a history with WWE NXT UK, is of the opinion that WWE’s desire to host a WrestleMania in the UK steams from their response to the accomplishments of AEW All In.
In the previous year, during his appearance at the WWE Money in the Bank 2023 in London, popular wrestling icon John Cena expressed his wish to see WrestleMania come to the UK.
In a recent development, WWE CCO Triple H and WWE President Nick Khan met with London Mayor Sadiq Khan to deliberate on the feasibility of hosting a WrestleMania event in London.
The possibility of this development being a response to AEW All In’s successful event in London was put to Andrews in a recent edition of “Winning Edge” podcast. He expressed:
“Undeniably! Just dive into the history, and you would see – in the recent decade, WWE often fails to catch the wave at the right moment. They sometimes react hastily – this is not meant to belittle them though, as they’re the most significant entity in the wrestling world. I do feel they, perhaps due to juggling so many responsibilities, miss out on key moments.
“Frankly, I am taken aback that it’s taken them this long to consider this opportunity. AEW filled the seats at Wembley with All In last year, and only now that the second All In is about to take place, the possibility of a WrestleMania in London is being considered.
“Wrestling followers, particularly those in London, have been awaiting this for years. So, the fact that it’s taken them this long comes across as unusual to me. It’s pretty clear to me that this move directly correlates to AEW’s success in the UK.”
With years of experience competing in WWE NXT UK and titles like NXT UK Tag Team Champion and TNA World Tag Team Champion to his name, Andrews is well-placed in the wrestling world.
Meanwhile, AEW is geared for a return to the United Kingdom for its second All In pay-per-view event at Wembley Stadium. Plans are also in place for a Dynamite taping in Cardiff later this month.
