John Cena, the globally recognized WWE superstar, unexpectedly appeared at the 2024 Money In The Bank pay-per-view event of WWE. With his surprising return, he made a major announcement – his intention to retire from professional wrestling by the end of the following year, 2025. Cena further revealed his intentions of participating in around 30-40 wrestling matches the next year as a part of his retirement tour.
In a recent interaction with Talksport, Cena voiced his wish to include the United Kingdom in his retirement tour the following year. Despite this, he acknowledged that a future WrestleMania event in London, where he wishes to wrestle, won’t be part of the plan. The WWE executive team, including Triple H and Nick Khan, recently discussed possibilities of hosting an event in London with Mayor Sadiq Khan. However, the event won’t be taking place in 2025.
Expressing his genuine wishes, Cena stated, “I sincerely hope for the best. As everyone is aware, my wrestling days are coming to an end next year. We’re due to start in January and aim to have our last match in December 2025. I am eagerly hoping to include some UK dates in this retirement tour. I’ve always been keen about having a WrestleMania located in London, as I strongly believe that London deserves the opportunity to host the biggest event in wrestling. And the recent talks between Triple H, Nick Khan and the London mayor are indeed promising, but nothing is finalized yet. Though I won’t be able to wrestle there in 2025, if it does happen, I will definitely be in the audience as an ardent fan.”
John Cena further confirmed that 2025 would see him participating in major events such as Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and the 41st WrestleMania. However, he clarified that his final appearance will not be at WrestleMania 41 as he intends to keep wrestling till the end of that year.
