Welcome to another edition of eWrestlingNews’s Daily Wrestling Question!
While remembering this day in the wrestling calendar, it appears that Chris Jericho first stepped into the WWE ring on Monday Night Raw on August 9th.
His inaugural introduction, fraught with anticipation, is often considered one of the most memorable debuts of all time. But, taking into account all of Chris Jericho’s substantial roster of returns and debuts, can it still hold that title?
Today’s challenge for you all is “What is your top comeback or debut from Chris Jericho’s wrestling journey?”
We encourage you to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
As for my top pick…
Honestly, I don’t believe I was following wrestling when Chris first stepped into the WWE sphere. By then, I think I was on a break from wrestling that went from sometime in 1999 to 2006. I’ve seen it since, of course, but the impact is just not the same in hindsight.
On the contrary, if I had to choose a moment representative of Chris’s debuts and returns, I would prefer his comeback on November 19, 2007 as part of the Save_Us.Y2J campaign.
I had recently resumed my wrestling viewership around this time, and having always been an enthusiast of Jericho’s from his WCW days, I was excited to see him return. Jericho was one of the very few I always hoped would transition to WWF, being more of a WWF fan myself.
The cryptic teases were fascinating. Like many others, I was eagerly trying to decode them each week. The theme music, “Interfear” instantly became my cell phone ringtone, and has remained that way for an incredible 17 years regardless of my phone upgrades. It’s a stark reminder of how rapidly time passes.
The much-talked-about light-up jacket return of Jericho never really resonated with me, nor did his other WWE returns. His AEW debut was significant, but as it coincided with the launch of the company, it wasn’t as impactful as a standalone event for me.
When I contemplate Jericho’s grand entrances, debuts or returns, my mind gravitates towards two moments: his 2007 return against Randy Orton, followed by his original Raw unveiling.
