AEW wrestler Bryan Keith has recently made an appearance on the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast. He shared his experience of working alongside Chris Jericho as part of The Learning Tree initiative.
Find highlights from the podcast below:
On the experience with Chris Jericho: “It’s an amazing journey to learn from you and to have you as my initial mentor in this field. Yeah, I’m part of the Learning Tree, which is an absolute reality.”
On the similarity with learning from Booker T: “Working under your guidance is like on-the-job training. It’s pretty similar to my stint with Booker T, which I find quite interesting because you both are from the same era of wrestling. The teachings I received from him resonate with the learnings from you, which also strengthens my previous learnings. It brings me immense joy, I’m truly elated.”
“The Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington was also a guest on a recent “AEW Unrestricted” podcast. He made a revelation that Bret Hart was the one to convince him to adopt the Dynamite Kid moniker.
Find some highlights from the podcast below:
On the influence of Bret Hart to adopt the Dynamite Kid moniker: “In fact, the thought of using the moniker Dynamite Kid never crossed my mind. It was just two weeks before my AEW debut that I started considering it. I always used to feel a bit hesitant about adopting the name as I didn’t want to create an impression of merely profiting from the legacy. I always believed in crafting my own identity and for the longest time, I was known as Tom Billington. It was during a casual dinner with Bret that he suggested, ‘Tom, I truly believe you should use the Dynamite Kid moniker. You resemble him so much, even your walk and talk mimic his.‘”
On being reminiscent of the old Dynamite Kid to Bret Hart: “Bret told me my resemblance to the old Dynamite Kid was so uncanny it startled him. Despite his repeated suggestion, I was apprehensive. The persistent urging from Bret finally got me thinking, I decided to give it a shot and the response subsequent to two shows was overwhelming. Audiences felt I carried an uncanny resemblance.”
On the resemblance to his uncle: “I often hear about my striking resemblance to him, sometimes it even feels eerie to others. It reminds them of the Stampede Wrestling era in the 1980s. So, when AEW suggested using the name for the Dynamite and Collision shows, I agreed. Ever since, it has been one of the best decisions of my career.”
