We invite you to partake in another exciting eWrestlingNews discussion of the Day! Recently, there’s been buzz about the possibility of The Lucha Bros not renewing their contract with All Elite Wrestling. It’s said that they might leave AEW entirely and proceed to the WWE roster, possibly making their debut on Raw or SmackDown, bypassing NXT entirely.
Our query for you is: “Should Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo join WWE? If so, which brand should they join?”
Leave your responses in the comments below.
Here’s my perspective…
Here’s a handy resource to keep track of which WWE Superstars are on which roster.
In my view, the choice is simple, primarily due to one team: The Bloodline.
At first glance, you might think I’m suggesting The Lucha Bros should head to SmackDown for a face-off with them. But the truth is, given The Bloodline’s hold on SmackDown’s WWE Tag Team Championship titles, it’s clear that Penta and Fenix should not join the blue brand, but land on Monday Night Raw instead.
Regardless of membership changes and plot twists, I believe we will land on the same conclusion. Unless drastic injuries occur, I foresee Jimmy and Jey Uso reviving The Usos tag team to fight for those titles at WrestleMania 41.
For The Lucha Bros to join SmackDown, they are unlikely to clinch those titles, even as far in future as 2025. Potentially quick brand switches post the 2025 WWE Draft raise unnecessary complications.
On the Raw roster, they will find worthy teams to compete against and an extra hour to make their mark. Unlike SmackDown, the world tag titles at WrestleMania 2025 on Raw aren’t set in stone, leaving room for The Lucha Bros to build up interesting narratives against teams like American Made, Alpha Academy, Awesome Truth, The Judgment Day, The Wyatt Sicks, The Final Testament, The New Day, and an intriguing possibility, The Latino World Order.
This raises another interesting question: would/should Fenix and Penta join the LWO?
I’m conflicted. Unless I know future WWE plans, I would be inclined to keep them out of the LWO and instead have them appear as antagonists for Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and others.
I sense that the pairing of Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan won’t last long, and Carlito in The Judgment Day feels out of place. I would like to see a reconfiguration, possibly integrating The Lucha Bros into the allies for an eight-man tag team match at WrestleMania.
Welcoming The Lucha Bros as fan favourites for the audience to cheer isn’t a bad idea either. There’s potential for matches like The Lucha Brothers against The Creed Brothers. However, the prospects are more on Raw than SmackDown, where they could be confined to non-title feuds to keep them away from The Bloodline.
