WWE NXT will return to the USA Network next week and even though the Great American Bash has concluded, the excitement around title matches set for Tuesday nights is still palpable.
During the August 6th WWE NXT episode, a series of developments culminated in the announcement of several fights for next week’s show, three of which feature championships.
In the principal event, Axiom and Nathan Frazer maintained their hold on the NXT Tag Team Championships against MSK (Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz). Ridge Holland had announced earlier in the night that he and Andre Chase will be facing the victors of this week’s match in a tag team title showdown next week, setting up for an upset for Duke Hudson, who initially thought he would partner with Chase.
Additionally, Tony D’Angelo made a proposal to No Quarter Catch Crew; if Wren Sinclair defeated Kendal Grey (which she did), and if Charlie Dempsey and Myles Borne welcomed her into No Quarter Catch Crew, then D’Angelo would give Dempsey a chance at the NXT Heritage Cup.
As his exit from the WWE Performance Center was being covered, Oba Femi was interrupted by Tony D’Angelo and The D’Angelo Family who declared the Heritage Cup match official, Femi also confirmed that he will defend the NXT North American Championship next week in an open challenge.
Beyond these fights, Eddy Thorpe will engage Lexis King once more, rekindling their hostility. Their rematch was triggered by a dispute they had during a backstage barbecue.
No announcements have been made yet regarding other ongoing feuds, such as the quarrel between Trick Williams and Pete Dunne after their match or the matter of the women’s division titles. However, possibilities for future matches were hinted at.
The upcoming week’s lineup so far includes Eddy Thorpe vs. Lexis King, an NXT Tag Team Championship Match with The Supersonic Duo versus Chase University, an NXT North American Championship Match with Oba Femi against an undisclosed opponent, and an NXT Heritage Cup Match between Tony D’Angelo and Charlie Dempsey.
