Drew McIntyre has playfully taunted the wrestling superstar CM Punk regarding his history of prolonged recoveries from injuries, earning him regular time away from the wrestling ring.

In the 2024 edition of WWE SummerSlam, McIntyre was victorious over Punk, who was returning after a hiatus due to a torn triceps injury incurred during the men’s Royal Rumble match earlier that year.

McIntyre, during an interview with “NotSam Wrestling” around the SummerSlam 2024 weekend, jabbed at Punk by comparing his recovery process to the polar opposite of the Marvel superhero, Wolverine. He humorously quipped,

“I can just be thankful that, talk about something topical since ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is fairly popular at the moment. A torn tricep typically takes approximately three to four months to heal. Thankfully, when it comes to recovery, Punk is the complete antithesis of Wolverine [laughs]. It awarded me the opportunity to carry this narrative to its eventual conclusion.”

For those who are not well-versed with comic characters, Wolverine is known for his vastly superior ‘healing factor’, which allows him to recover from even the most severe injuries at an astonishingly rapid pace.

McIntyre, on the other hand, declared that he is done dealing with CM Punk. The Scottsman continues to hold onto a bracelet that belongs to Punk, inscribed with the names of his wife and dog.
