During an interview on “Iron Talk with Gregory Iron,” WWE Tag Team Champion, Johnny Gargano, revealed a memorable story about the time Buff Bagwell predicted he would never succeed in the wrestling world. According to Gargano, Bagwell expressed his bleak outlook to Gargano’s father at a show that took place in his pizza eatery when Gargano was just 17 years old.
Gargano remembered, “That’s the noteworthy time when my father asked Buff Bagwell if he thought I had a future in wrestling. Bagwell’s response was a straight ‘no.’ When asked if he thought I had what it takes, Bagwell bluntly replied, ‘Nope, he doesn’t.’ He has since issued an apology. Though, it was through his Twitter account – whether he is personally responsible for that or not, is anyone’s guess.”
Amidst Bagwell’s disbelief, Gargano continued to pursue his passion for wrestling. He joined Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW) in 2006, his talent and tenacity catching the eye of WWE scouts. By 2016, he was a signed member of the WWE roster and has since then, earned several titles.
Gargano recently teamed up with Tommaso Ciampa to go back to his roots at AIW. The dynamic duo will be defending their tag team titles on SmackDown against The Bloodline, happening tonight.
