On his “1 Of A Kind” podcast, Rob Van Dam spoke about a range of topics including his love for working with ECW, a collapsing match with Psycho Sid, and more.

Some highlights from the podcast are mentioned below:

Discussing his favourite organisation to work with, Van Dam said that while WWE brought him fame and wealth, reaching unparalleled heights, it was ECW, despite the hard work and less pay, that was most enjoyable for him. Van Dam illustrated his time at ECW as the period where he felt most creative and connected with every match. He acknowledged it was hard, but it was also rewarding as it allowed him to continuously improve and contribute to the growth of the organization.

Van Dam shared his disappointment regarding a match with Psycho Sid that didn’t materialise even though it was planned. He admitted to having been excited about the match and expressed regret that he missed the opportunity.

Talking about Mike Awesome, Van Dam revealed that despite plans, they never had a wrestling match in ECW. He saw this as a long-term strategy benefitting the company. Van Dam saw Awesome as an excellent heavyweight extreme champion and relished the thought of a face off at their respective peaks in ECW. He is confident that such matches would have been some of his best in ECW.
