In a recent one-on-one with Alistair McGeorge from Metro UK, ex-WWE wrestler Elias shared his experiences of working in WWE before his departure from the company. He revealed his uncertainty about his future post-release and several other aspects of his career.
The following consist of key pointers from Elias’s discussion:
When speaking about his bitter experiences with WWE, Elias said, “It was this constant demotion to minor backstage roles that was getting to me. It pushed me to a point where I began considering retiring from wrestling. I missed the passion I once had as a child, dreaming about wrestling and securing a spot in WWE.”
On being asked about his thoughts after being let go by the company, Elias expressed, “As a professional, I couldn’t just stand idle and simply receive my paycheck. I had aspirations to be at the forefront, to prove that I stood shoulder-to-shoulder with my peers. The reality of that dream not materializing was a huge disappointment. I genuinely wasn’t sure about my next steps.”
Elias’s experience of going against Mike Bailey at Wrestling Revolver restored his affinity for the sport, he disclosed, “That’s when I realized that the joy of wrestling was not lost. It’s exactly what I want right now. It’s a sheer delight to hit the road, wrestle, represent myself authentically and connect with a variety of people.”
