This week, it has been confirmed that Shane McMahon held a discussion with Tony Khan, President of AEW, regarding potential future plans.
WrestleTalk and Fightful have verified that the meeting took place on Monday, July 29, in an office at a private airport in Arlington.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp mentioned that the meeting was about “possibilities moving forward“, and that Khan has been “open” to dialogues with Shane for some time.
It is understood that McMahon and Khan had never met or communicated prior to the recent online speculations regarding McMahon’s potential affiliation with AEW.
Khan has been “very open” to the idea of “using” McMahon in AEW for several weeks, however, those in AEW who spoke to Sapp were uninformed about the meeting.
Khan, in an earlier conversation with Sports Illustrated, expressed his respect for McMahon as both an executive and a wrestler, stating that he was “always welcome in AEW.”
McMahon has not made an appearance for WWE since WrestleMania 39, having sustained a quadriceps tear early into his surprise match against his former ally, The Miz.
