Matt Hardy holds the confident belief that British wrestling star, Will Ospreay, would excel if he were a part of the WWE. Although Ospreay never did make the transition to WWE, he instead confirmed his signing with AEW at their Full Gear event 2023. This announcement quashed the ongoing speculations about him being the headliner of the NXT Europe brand under WWE.
On a recent episode of his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy”, Hardy shared some insights into why WWE could potentially have been a better match for Ospreay. Matt Hardy stated,
“I believe that if Ospreay had made the switch to WWE, his path to stardom might have been slower, but definitely more profound. With the added advantage of having the ‘WWE machine’ to back him up… I think he would have had the opportunity to further develop his character, which goes beyond his innate ability to work the microphone.”
Following his official association with AEW, Ospreay clinched the International Championship title only to lose it to MJF during their 250th Dynamite episode. Since then, the title has been renamed as the AEW American Championship by MJF. Fans are set to look forward to a rematch between the two in the AEW All In: London event, scheduled for the coming month.
