For Tony Khan, Sting’s final bout remains as one of the defining moments in his experience of wrestling history.
On an episode of “The Rich Eisen Show” not long ago, the President of AEW shared his reverence for the Revolution 2024 pay-per-view special. He highlighted that the time Sting announced his retirement at the navigation of the program was “one of the standout nights” he has ever had.
Some main points from the interview can be observed below:
When discussing the most unforgettable moment in AEW up to now: “The retirement announcement of Sting marked one of the extraordinary nights of my existence, and it was one of the most incredible incidents I’ve ever witnessed in wrestling. It was notably fitting, having Sting team up with Darby Allin against The Young Bucks, during his retirement match. Which created an all-time live attendance record in Greensboro, North Carolina, an achievement that undoubtedly surpassed the existing record.”
In reflection of AEW Revolution 2024: “One of the most epic pay-per-views recorded in the wrestling enterprise, and an extensive success story for the AEW. Enormous pay-per-view ratings, making it one of our top three pay-per-views of all time. In the past year, our two best performing pay-per-views have been AEW All In at Wembley, and naturally, Revolution 2024, which I believe is potentially the most grandiose event AEW has ever produced.”
