Renowned wrestler Meiko Satomura has announced that she will be hanging up her boots in April 2025 which will coincide with her 30th wrestling career anniversary.

According to the latest update by Fightful Select, it has been revealed that WWE was made privy of Satomura’s imminent retirement.

Most recently, Meiko Satomura graced the screens on WWE during the NXT Roadblock event in March 2023. Following that, she has been noticeably absent from NXT tapings and not spotted coaching at the WWE Performance Center.

Despite Satomura being part of the recent WWE Japan tour and granted permission to participate in Fortune Dream 9 taking place in Tokyo in June, her non-appearance on WWE TV has led to a surge of inquiries among NXT talent.

Reports suggest that only Satomura and top officials in WWE were privy to the reasons behind her absence from WWE TV, leaving room for speculation within the NXT talent pool about her long-term future with the corporation. There is no information available about any possible future appearances on WWE TV and chances of a WrestleMania 41 match are considered unlikely.

While Satomura’s announcement of retirement did not come as a surprise within the NXT circles, her coaching talent in NXT UK earned her high praises from both NXT and NXT UK personnel. Nevertheless, some individuals in NXT were surprised with her relatively brief tenure in the U.S. arm of NXT.

Japanese sources predict that Satomura will now dedicate her time towards growing her own Sendai Girls promotion brand and has publicly announced her intentions to compete for the brand in the near future.

Lastly, it was pointed out that Satomura will mostly be operating from Japan in the foreseeable future with any potential comeback to the U.S. scene being uncertain, though not ruled out completely.
