‘Had WWE been in its current state 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have opted to depart.’

In a highly awaited move, WWE witnessed the grand return of CM Punk at the WWE Survivor Series of November 2023.

Earlier this week, Punk remarked how Vince McMahon stepping away from WWE opened the gates for his return to the ring.

In a recent interaction with “Ringside Collectibles” held during the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, Punk shared his thoughts on the current scenario of WWE.

You can find some of the notable takeaways from the interview below:

Perspective on the current WWE state: “The best thing about the company’s current position, especially from a creative viewpoint, is that it’s the most creatively enriching locker room I’ve ever been a part of. We foster an environment where ideas are not tossed aside or ignored. People are eager to brainstorm and perhaps, one day, an idea that I might overlook might be brilliant. I’m always open to new thoughts, provided they’re sound.”

Discussing the difference in creative liberty between his two tenures: “Indeed, and to such an extent that I hesitate discussing it. Many misinterprete my words thinking I’m merely parroting the company’s agenda. However, if WWE was the way it is today, I wouldn’t have left a decade ago. This is the simplest description. It’s a thrilling development.”

Punk is all set to face off against Drew McIntyre at the upcoming WWE SummerSlam 2024 next weekend.
