Multiple sources including eWn have indicated that veteran wrestler CM Punk is keen on redefining his contract with the WWE, since his return to the franchise in November of 2023.
Renowned wrestling journalist, Dave Meltzer, during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, explained that Punk’s current contract is quite ephemeral and nearing its end. Discussions are currently in progress regarding its elongation.
The existing pact features a unique clause, allowing rollovers and thus alleviating the urgency to devise a fresh agreement immediately.
Meltzer, during the episode, elaborated, “There’s a rumor circulating concerning CM Punk contemplating a contract renegotiation. The buzz is rather exaggerated. When CM Punk was brought onboard, he was offered a fleeting contract which is on the verge of completion. The agreement includes rollovers, eradicating the need for an immediate re-signature as the contract still has some life left. Nevertheless, it was acknowledged from the start that renegotiations were imminent…The understanding that talks would take place was already there. There is mutual understanding and harmony among all parties. This doesn’t imply that there’s a problem; it’s merely a matter of settling on terms that were understood to be part of the process…This is just about synchronizing thoughts because both parties are aware of their goals. Ideally, [he] stays unscathed. But, as it stands, his position is favorable.”
Punk is set to face off against Drew McIntyre in the coming month at WWE SummerSlam 2024.
