In a thrilling engagement, Team AEW triumphed over The Elite in a major victory during the Blood & Guts match at AEW Dynamite on July 24, 2024.
The representatives of All Elite Wrestling have endured many setbacks in recent months, including Anarchy in the Arena at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. Despite entering the double-ring cage match on Wednesday night as the likely underdogs, infighting within the team of The Elite, along with some support from allies like Jeff Jarrett and Billy Gunn, and a strategic move by Darby Allin, equipped them with the right ingredients for a major victory.
Highlights of the intense match included “Hangman” Adam Page attaching Swerve Strickland to the fence, which led to threats of his termination by The Young Bucks due to his overemphasis on the AEW World Champion, which delayed the proper start of the match. This over-focus from Page on Strickland may be a focal point for the executive vice presidents’ criticisms.
The match, which featured chair use, thumbtacks, staple guns, and more, culminated with Allin dousing Jack Perry in gasoline and threatening to ignite him if they didn’t relinquish the match and also promise him a shot at the TNT Championship at AEW All In 2024.
Matthew Jackson finally gave in to these demands, securing Allin a shot at the championship and leading Team AEW to victory in the Blood & Guts match.
Below are some of the standout moments from the match:
