There is ongoing chatter about the potential reformation of the Hurt Business wrestling squad, this time under the umbrella of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Bobby Lashley and MVP, two of the most prominent figures in the group, have been withdrawn from WWE’s internal roster.
The duo, along with fellow former WWE wrestler Tamina Snuka, has not appeared on WWE programming for a substantial period of time. Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer brought to light some discussion about Lashley and MVP attempting to migrate to AEW. Their ultimate goal, it seems, is to revive the Hurt Business there.
However, it should be noted that there has been no direct communication between AEW management and MVP/Lashley, as both wrestling stars are still contractually committed to WWE. Nevertheless, it seems the move is on their radar.
As part of their next phase, they are considering roping in Shelton Benjamin, a former member of the Hurt Business. Benjamin was let go from WWE in September 2023.
With this scenario unfolding, WWE is banking on the assumption that MVP and Lashley will not be returning, hinting that their contracts with the entertainment company will come to an end fairly soon.
In the past, MVP made an attempt to secure the legal rights to the Hurt Business moniker, but according to the USPTO website, WWE currently holds the ownership.
Cedric Alexander, another former Hurt Business member, has been spotted partnering with Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis in low-profile matches at recent SmackDown tapings.
The Hurt Business contingency was dispersed early in 2021, a decision that was widely belittled, including by the group members themselves. They briefly came back together later that year.
