Recently, Cody Rhodes appeared as a guest on the podcast, “Insight With Chris Van Vliet”. He shared his views on the likelihood of him not being at the main event of WrestleMania 40, concealing the news from CM Punk among others, and more. Here are some of the key moments of the podcast chat:
Rhode’s feelings after winning the Royal rumble, knowing he may not main event at WrestleMania: “It was an emotional day for me. At the same time, this is my second Royal Rumble victory. It’s a milestone that changes your life. How can you neglect such a feeling? But that day was undoubtedly tough.”
Discussing keeping the news from CM Punk and others: “I never really had a conversation about it, like, are you aware what’s going on? However, my decision to talk about it is because the documentary is already out there, everyone has shared their experiences, it was a hard day altogether.”
On his initial personal reaction: “The experience was a timely reminder not to take things personally in wrestling. With my stint in management and whatnot, I should have known better than anyone else. I had to exit the room without taking things to heart.”
His surge of confidence prior to WrestleMania: “The incidents that occurred with The Rock at WrestleMania 40 was indeed the defining moment where I started seeing my worth. It was the first time that I gave credence to the fact that maybe some wrestlers from the current generation have become popular. When I say someone is ‘over’, that person is practically followed everywhere by cameras. My concept of being ‘over’ is quite lofty. In my opinion, John Cena fits into this category.”
