WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes recently guested on the podcast “Insight with Chris Van Vliet”. Rhodes shared his thoughts about his current WWE character, drew comparisons to Homelander from the show The Boys, and revealed a lot more.
Highlighted discussions on the podcast include:
Upon winning the WWE Champion title, Cody Rhodes said that he didn’t get any sleep. He confessed that he texted several people including The Undertaker to express his gratitude. Cody shared that he felt invincible, younger, and faster after winning the title and was excited about his future trajectory in WWE.
When asked about fans’ criticism of his character, Rhodes compared his situation to an episode of ‘Parks and Rec’ where a character was loathed seemingly without reason. He noted that instead of trying to win them over, he would rather invest his energy in the fans that support him.
Discussing his most controversial promo, Rhodes admitted that he might have crossed a line when he said his opponent had Latter-Day-Saints (LDS), expressing that it felt “off-brand” and a little uncomfortable.
Rhodes was asked about a mysterious item that The Rock gave him. Although he kept details undisclosed, he extensively praised his boss, earning him recognition among the WWE’s greatest names, like Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and of course, The Rock.
Talking about comparisons to Homelander from ‘The Boys’, Rhodes explained that his robe is actually inspired by military dress uniforms, not the infamous character. While he adores the series, he doesn’t exactly see himself as Homelander.
