Former wrestling personality from WWE, Shaul Guerrero, has shared emotive reflections on her wrestling journey, particularly about the trials she faced during her training days in FCW and the therapeutic connection she found between wrestling and her father.

During a recent interview on the “Developmentally Speaking” podcast, Guerrero didn’t hold back about the difficulties faced when she first entered the wrestling world. She explained,

“Rolling up to FCW which is this black warehouse and I’m like ‘Am I gonna die?’ or ‘No one’s ever gonna see me again?’ Whatever… You are going around to the town, driving three hours out, and hammering posters all around. So, like, we, like, … I think I was –- I am -– very honored that I was back in the day of, like, listen, we did not have any kind of privilege, you were roughing it.”

Guerrero was among the pioneering wrestlers to experience the WWE Performance Center, with its initiation in 2013. In her words,

“I was like, ‘Oh, this is nice. This is different. This is not what I came with.’ So, it’s kind of crazy with the two different worlds of developmental era that I was able to be exposed to.”

Shaul, the lone daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero to tread the path of professional wrestling like her father, expressed how being in the ring made her feel closer to him. Her father met an unfortunate early demise in November 2005 at an age of 38.

“Wrestling is dad and dad died so young for me, and so getting to be with so many coaches that loved dad, and got to have dad longer than even I did? It was very healing for me in a lot of ways.”

Although Guerrero exited WWE in April 2014, she re-emerged as a ring announcer for AEW in August 2020. Presently, she spends her life with Matt Rehwoldt, known in the TNA circuit as Aiden English, as her spouse.
