Eric Bischoff has once again made his views known about his perception of Tony Khan’s understanding of professional wrestling. In the latest episode of his “83 Weeks” podcast, he delivered some critical, albeit far from complimentary remarks about the AEW President’s acumen in the business.
Eric Bischoff, in his characteristic manner, expressed his doubts about Khan’s business intelligence. He candidly shared,“I’ve grown accustomed to Tony Khan making ill-considered remarks because he’s not the most shining star in the sky. It’s just a fact. He might demonstrate intelligence when it comes to data analysis. However, I’m starting to cast doubt on even that, as he doesn’t seem to scrutinize his own data. Although there are areas where Tony Khan exhibits astuteness, professional wrestling and WCW are certainly not among them.”
Bischoff also expressed amusement at Khan’s comparisons of AEW to WCW, a promotion he once managed and thus, holds inside knowledge of. Bischoff stated, “When Tony Khan draws parallels and attempts to equate AEW and his business strategy with WCW, it’s comedic to me. Let’s talk about the glory years – ’95 to ’99, when things were haywire, and everything was spiraling. Even then, Tony Khan’s AEW doesn’t hold a candle to where WCW was, even during its decline. It’s laughable to try and match what he’s doing with WCW, even at its nadir.”
Currently, AEW is at a pivotal stage as it gears up for its most significant event of the year – AEW All In 2024, scheduled for August at London’s Wembley Stadium.
