On a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Bully Ray, offered his thoughts on the inefficacy of the AEW Rankings system. Here’s what he had to say,
“All the rankings do is pigeonhole creative. Rankings have not worked from day one in AEW. Then they would introduce the rankings, only to discard them later. This pattern repeated a few months back, with Tony Khan publishing the rankings once a month. They featured for two months and then were discontinued once again. The rankings in AEW signify zip, zero, zilch, rubbish, dump them! It only serves to hamstring your flexibility and curtail your creativity when handling your roster.”
On another podcast named “The No Man Shave Cave”, former AEW wrestler Jake Hager lauded Chris Jericho for his commendable work ethic in promoting budding talents. Here are some snippets from the podcast:
Regarding Chris Jericho’s role in AEW: “The distinguishing factor here is this, have you witnessed Triple H promoting any new talents? Or did Undertaker do so? Did you observe any seasoned performers, who have as much experience as Jericho, promoting any new talent? Did Sting do this for anyone? Not at all. [Jericho is] making strides as he comprehends it.”
Describing how Jericho promotes other talents: “What puzzles me is why no one is discussing this. He is championing these guys. He is endorsing them. Did he boost Orange Cassidy’s career? Of course! I might be subjective, but I firmly believe he has been absolutely generous in fostering this company. It’s remarkable.”
