During the recent episode of the podcast, “What’s The Story”, Finn Balor opened up about the original plans for his involvement in NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin. It was initially organized to include a match between him and Edge, who had made a comeback around that time.
The NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin event had been planned for April 26, 2020, however, due to the outbreak of the global pandemic, the event had to be cancelled.
Following this, a long-standing rivalry between Balor and Edge resulted in a classic Hell In A Cell match at WrestleMania 39, where the WWE Hall of Famer emerged victorious.
Balor expressed his disappointment by saying, “We were building to a Dublin TakeOver. It was supposed to happen in April 2020 when things shutdown. It got postponed until October and eventually got canceled. The match was supposed to be Finn Balor vs. Edge. That got kind of canceled and postponed and we started to work towards me and WALTER. Then the wheels fell off.”
Earlier this year, Balor committed his future to WWE by signing a new five-year contract.
