Welcome to yet another engaging session of eWrestlingNews Q&A!
If you missed the WWE Raw episode of the previous night, the climax was marked by Rhea Ripley’s return. She appeared just as Dominik Mysterio was about to kiss Liv Morgan, and scared off the reigning women’s world champion who had previously injured her, leading to her surrendering the title.
Here comes the question of the day: “Should Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio go their separate ways, or remain a team?”
Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments section.
Speaking of my perspective…
Rhea and Dominik need to part ways for several reasons.
The gimmick has been entertaining but I believe its lifespan has ended. We’ve seen everything possible with Rhea and Dom as a team. He’s played her obedient sidekick, contributed to her victories, and brought plenty of humor. What other options are left except repetition that ends up being less and less funny?
Going forward, Ripley is bound to be a hero. Dominik’s association impedes this path since he’s more effective as a villain. A hero transformation for Dominik might not be in the cards unless perhaps he retires Rey Mysterio.
I envision Dominik playing a pivotal role in the Rhea-Liv equation in the coming weeks. He’ll assert full support for Rhea, but will continue to engage with Morgan. This will culminate at SummerSlam, where he’ll need to choose a side, leading to further complications.
If WWE decides to hasten events, Ripley will reclaim the title at SummerSlam, drawing everything to a close. I suspect they will eventually have the “custody of Dominik” match that’s been much gossiped about. If not at SummerSlam, it might happen on Raw or at Bash in Berlin soon after.
Either way, Ripley needs to cut ties with Dominik, regardless of the outcome. Depending on your viewpoint, Dominik should betray her, costing her the title match at SummerSlam and Ripley should win the belt back later, or Rhea should be the one to give him the boot. I can understand arguments for both. Mysterio gets more booing with the first choice, but the second results in a victory celebration for the audience supporting Ripley as the one taking charge and telling her ex to get lost.
By September, I think Ripley should be holding the Women’s World Championship, detached from The Judgment Day, and not associated with Dominik Mysterio either. Meanwhile, either Dominik sticks with Liv, or they break up, as Liv could just declare she was using him and without the title he’s worthless to her.
