Celebrated producer and Mercedes Mone’s advocate, Keven Undergaro, voiced his concerns regarding Mone’s participation in AEW as the TBS Champion in a recent appearance on the “Heal Squad” podcast. He indicated his fear of seeing her undertake increasingly daring moves in the ring due to little time offered to the company for character and story development.
Undergaro said, “Bless this little company that could, they have come so far to being the number two company. With their pure intention and good reputation, they often find themselves short on time to develop characters and storylines. This results in relying on Mone to execute extreme moves in the ring. Having X-Pac [Sean Waltman] as a resource is wonderful, especially now that he is a two-time Hall of Famer. I am apprehensive because I don’t want to see Mone, a talent with enormous follower count, pursue perilous moves. The audience isn’t really affected by them. You really don’t need it if you can tell a good story, and have an engaging character. I fear this could be the same fate for other talents in the ring right now.”
