The forthcoming Tuesday night edition of WWE NXT (July 9, 2024) is poised to feature two befitting matches that were confirmed during WWE NXT Heatwave.
Exclusively, the much-anticipated match between Gallus and the duo of Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe, which did not happen last week due to an on-the-spot backstage altercation that ensued between both teams, leading to them being sidelined for medical scrutiny (essentially staging a deferment tactic by WWE). Expectedly, this contested match has been scheduled to take place in the ensuing edition of NXT. Gallus created a brief buzz on social media with a video full of verbose trash talk:
“Couldn’t be less concerned with #NXTHeatwave tonight. Our sights are set on @WWENXT Tuesday. Forget your knock-off boots, you’re about to experience what it feels like to be trounced and trampled by bona fide wrestlers with genuine wrestling footwear. All you’ll be after is a ride to the medical centre” – tweeted Joe Coffey on July 7, 2024.
On another note, Karmen Petrovic and Arianna Grace unexpectedly walked away with a victory during the countdown to NXT Heatwave pre-show, defeating Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx. After the match, a backstage conversation featuring Petrovic, Grace and Ava ensued, where Grace expressed her willingness to go solo, claiming she wouldn’t let Petrovic, who remarkably secured the victory for their team, be her sole hindrance. Petrovic retaliated by challenging Grace to a fight on Tuesday to prove who among them was the superior wrestler – an idea that Ava supported and slated as another match for the forthcoming Tuesday event.
WWE conveyed this through their tweet on July 7, 2024, “The alliance between @karmen_wwe and @AriannaGraceWWE may be coming to an end, but Tuesday’s match on #WWENXT is now confirmed! #NXTHeatwave”
Also scheduled for the upcoming contest are matches featuring Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson against OTM, after The Good Brothers laid a challenge last week; and Lexis King versus Tony D’Angelo for the NXT Heritage Cup as retribution for King’s comment against The Don of NXT.
Having lost to Oba Femi and thus unable to challenge for the North American Championship, Wes Lee is expected to speak about his future in the upcoming episode.
