During the WWE Money In The Bank 2024 event that occurred on Saturday night, a surprise attack from CM Punk directed at Drew McIntyre interfered with McIntyre’s Money In the Bank cash-in. The interference permitted Damian Priest to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship versus Seth Rollins successfully.
The eagerly awaited clash between Punk and McIntyre seems imminent, giving fans the opportunity to witness their supposed rivalry unfold in the WWE ring.
As per the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer expressed that though the match hasn’t been officially confirmed for SummerSlam 2024, there’s a substantial amount of internal positivity surrounding its potential.
Meltzer stated, “So right now, it is not 100% as far as Punk and Drew at SummerSlam, I was told it is probable, and Punk was kind of asked about it. And he kind of beat around the bush. And he kind of said, I mean, it’s probably happening, but he kind of did say, It’s up to other people or whatever. He has to get cleared and everything by the doctors. I was pretty much told they’re pretty confident in it. But you can’t go and say 100% because it isn’t 100%. But yeah, that, you know, it’s been it’s been the hope. But it’s now more than a hope. Now, it’s the plan, you know, for Drew McIntyre and Punk for SummerSlam.”
It stands unclear what the future holds for McIntyre after Punk’s recent actions once again have deprived him of a significant title chance.
