The wrestling world is buzzing with the latest news from the July 5th edition of WWE SmackDown – #DIY, the outstanding tag team of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, reigns supreme as the new WWE Tag Team Champions. Their crowning moment came in the main event in Toronto, a symbolic locale where they had previously secured the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles.
In a ‘Digital Exclusive’ segment post-show, Johnny Gargano was elated to have bagged another title in the heart of Canada. His glee was evident as he commented,
“Toronto, we did it. Lightning struck twice, and we are the lightning bolt that this tag team division needs… Winning the NXT Tag Team Titles was indeed a career-defining moment for us. But this – capturing these titles, was our ultimate goal. We, two individuals who were never slated to work for this organization, now proudly sport WWE gold.”
Ciampa, too, expressed his delight as he looks forward to celebrating this magnificent victory with his loved ones. In his own words,
“These are the most beautiful titles in the entire WWE, and [bringing title close to his face] she just murmured that she’s eager to meet Willow when we get home. And I’m positive that Willow is equally excited. Not to mention, Quill [Gargano’s son] is also eagerly waiting to meet her.”
The previous title holders, A-Town Down Under, enjoyed their reign since WrestleMania 40 when they won the SmackDown Tag Team Titles in an epic six-team ladder match.
