WWE and AEW veteran Matt Hardy has put to rest the buzz about Shane McMahon considering a move to All Elite Wrestling, calling it highly overstated.

It was earlier mentioned in several reports that Shane had initiated conversations about potentially moving to AEW with several talents there. However, Hardy maintains that these were merely informal chats and in no way did Shane pitch his intention of joining the AEW.

On an episode of his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” Hardy relayed a conversation he had with Shane McMahon, refuting the claims of him switching to AEW. He affirmed,

“He’s not. Information from a source revealed that none of the rumors were true. It’s pure fiction, 100%, yeah. The idea itself is astonishing. Amidst the speculation, Shane got in touch with someone and questioned, ‘Why all this chatter about me and AEW?’ It made me wonder when people began reaching out to me about it, bringing it to my notice.

In the aftermath of tumultuous events at the 2022 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, McMahon was terminated from his role in WWE, with Vince McMahon, his father, announcing that Shane would never return to the WWE ring.

The last WWE spectacle that featured Shane was WrestleMania 39, where he sustained injuries during a surprise bout with ex-companion The Miz.
