In a recent pair of events, WWE delighted spectators in Scotland with both Friday Night SmackDown and the 2024 edition of Clash At The Castle. According to reports, the live overseas audience warmly greeted both shows.
As noted by Fightful Select, several notable individuals from the UK’s independent wrestling scene were handed invitations by WWE to grace both events as special guests or extras.
The report identifies at least ten invitees specifically: Damian Corvin, Rhio (currently holding the Progress Women’s World Championship), Aaron Echo, Andy Roberts, Shreddy, BT Gunn, RP Davies, Danny Jones, Brady Phillips, and Mulligan. However, it’s speculated that more individuals may have been asked to attend, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed.
A handful of the invitees were tasked with additional roles during the events. One prominent instance involved RP Davies, who was caught on WWE’s social media feeds aiding AJ Styles after his faceoff against Cody Rhodes in Clash At The Castle: Scotland.
Thus far, it’s yet to be reported that WWE has proposed any contracts to the talents they had invited. Interestingly, these individuals continued their professional wrestling activities at various events in Glasgow throughout the following weekend.
All invitations to the talent were made possible by Gabe Sapolsky, known for his past activities recruiting wrestlers for WWE.
Finally, WWE’s Chief Creative Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, spoke openly about the beneficial outcomes of former WWE extras during the post-event press conference for Clash At The Castle: Scotland.
