Recent changes within WWE have led to speculation regarding a possible alteration in their tactics concerning the dismissal of talent. Several prominent figures, including longstanding members, have been let go, sparking speculation regarding the future strategy of the organization.
Among the prominent talent off boarded this year are names such as Xyon Quinn, Xia Li, Jinder Mahal, Von Wagner, and Cameron Grimes. The trend persisted with the release of Ezekiel Balogun, Julian Baldi, Trey Bearhill, Emmamaria Diaz, Valentina Feroz, Drew Gulak, Keyshawn Leflore, Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, and Kiyah Saint. The release of Dijak on June 28th, executed without warning, has particularly taken the fans by surprise.
Insight into Dijak’s unexpected exit and the possible shift in WWE’s release notification strategy has been reportedly provided by Fightful Select.
In the WWE community, Dijak’s abrupt departure was met with surprise, with many hoping it would be a stand-alone incident. According to inside information, the departure of Drew Gulak, Reggie, and Sarray was planned and they were informed beforehand, indicating the necessity for similar communication regarding Dijak’s situation.
The WWE network has been abuzz with concerns due to the failure of providing Dijak with sufficient notice concerning his departure, despite continuous contract negotiations. This has opened up a discussion related to the management of future talent departures.
The report revealed, “People in WWE were hoping it’s an anomaly because he was informed in very short order. Drew Gulak was expected to be re-signed before a lot of the stuff unfolded. He was notified [Gulak] well ahead of time from what I understand. Reggie, Scrypts, he was notified well ahead of time. Dijak was not. Not only that, he engaged them in potential contract talks so yeah, this is not something a lot of people are happy about and hope it’s not the norm moving forward.”
Only time will tell whether Dijak’s abrupt release was an isolated incident, or perhaps a sign of a changing pattern in the company’s talent management strategy.
