In a recent episode of the “Power Alphas” podcast, Dax Harwood, a key member of The Revival when they were part of the WWE main roster, shared insights into their experiences. Specifically, Harwood and his teammate Cash Wheeler found themselves often at odds with Vince McMahon’s vision of a professional wrestler.
Harwood divulged that it often became a daily struggle, with McMahon’s viewpoints differing greatly from their own. He explained, “Everything that, at the time, Vince McMahon loved about a professional wrestler … Cash and I were the complete antithesis to that. We were not his bodybuilders. We didn’t meet his height requirements … I knew it was going to be a fight on the main roster, and it was. Almost every day it was a fight. [Triple H] admired your wrestling and your work and what you brought to the table in-ring more than Vince did at the time. Vince had his idea of what a successful professional wrestler is … we were the opposite of that.“
Meanwhile, on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Goldberg shared his journey within the wrestling industry and credited those who assisted him as he ascended within WCW. He stated, “I know who helped me on the way up, and I know who didn’t. The Steiner Brothers helped me out exponentially. Rick Rude, [Curt] Hennig, everybody. The old school guys, man. Meng, [Barbarian]. Bobby Eaton. I was fortunate enough to have an unbelievable group around me. Guys that really did care. And there were others, but you need adversity to learn and to grow. I was too giving a person in the beginning of my wrestling career, because I believed everything that anybody told me that was in the business. Anything. Because I didn’t think that people were as vindictive and it was that type of business. Because again, it’s a frickin’ team and it’s fiction. I mean, come on, man. The more money I make as a top guy, the more money everybody makes. And I can’t be that top guy if it wasn’t for the guys that helped me climb up that ladder. So it’s a simple equation, and unfortunately, emotions and egos and testosterone being thrown into it, you know what happens.“
