The phrase “break a leg” is usually said in jest, but unfortunately for WWE star Saquon Shugars, this adage has become his reality recently.

Once recognized under the alias Lucky Ali, Shugars made his first appearance on NXT during a live event on February 10, 2024. Following his debut, he participated in three additional matches — two more live events and a confrontation with Tavion Heights on NXT Level Up on March 19th, which ultimately led to his injury.

In the subsequent months, Shugars turned to social media to share updates on his knee injury, making light of his situation by dubbing himself Unlucky Ali. He also shared his journey of hitching random rides to NXT shows and to the Performance Center for training.

Presently, Shugars has established a GoFundMe campaign labelled “Get Shugars back on his feet :(“, revealing that Shawn Michaels and Matt Bloom have prevented him from working due to his damaged knee.

The description on his GoFundMe page is as follows:

Hey there, I’m Saquon Sugars and my knee was injured during my debut match.

Since signing the 360 deal, I’m unable to continue selling merchandise. It seems likely that they might create toys modeled after me once I recover. However, mr. atrain has forbidden me to work in my current condition. Hence, I require your assistance financially. You can donate any amount you wish. If you’re having troubles with the donation button, my Cashapp is $SaquonOffWwe.

Your support would mean the world to me, given everything I’ve endured for you all. Do you recall the event in VA when my tire blew out during a lengthy 10-hour drive to czw and I was still made the main event? I had an opportunity to stay back with a friend in VA, but I chose to reach your city instead.

I request you to aid me in this difficult time.

Best, SS

At the time this piece was put together, numerous donations had been made including one from John Cena, who donated 0, anonymous contributions totaling , and a donation from Jakara Jackson who conveyed a message of “We miss u boo !!”

However, it appears that this may have been yet another humorous antic by Shugars, as further donations to the fundraising campaign have been halted.
