In the latest episode of the “Major Figure” podcast, professional wrestler Cody Rhodes gives his insights on the customary use of blood in wrestling, underlining its deeply-rooted role in sports entertainment.
The topic sprung from the anticipation for an impending AEW action figure collection. This collection is a tribute to his charged match with Dustin Rhodes during the Double or Nothing 2019 event, where the visual use of blood was considerably high.
During the discussion, Rhodes commented, “It’s very enjoyable to witness. Blood has been an integral part of sports entertainment, particularly pro wrestling. In a slightly bizarre way, and I don’t mean to sound harmful, it’s pleasing to observe it being honoured in the packaging and at this moment. In fact, I rewarded myself with a pat on the back when, leading up to WrestleMania, I was the first WWE shirt wearer to get a speck of blood on it. They used a skull with a tiny cut on top following the beating I took from Rock in the rain.”
The wrestling match saw Cody Rhodes triumph over his brother Dustin. The two siblings warmly embraced each other in the ring after their match.
