During a recent installment of the “Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, the wrestling icon, currently under contract with TNA, conversed extensively on a plethora of issues.

In the segment of the podcast, Hardy shared his insights about Damian Priest, who is set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre at the impending Clash at the Castle event. Here are some noteworthy excerpts from the discussion:

Regarding his anticipation for a change in leadership, Hardy remarked, “Seeing Drew take home the title is something I personally desire. Admittedly, it seems a bit premature to cut short Damian Priest’s reign, but keeping in mind his successful stint, much like what we, the Hardyz, experienced when clinching the World Tag Team Titles for the first time. That period set us on the road to recognition, a route Damian is also treading now. His more prolonged reign is likely to happen in the future, but currently, I think they are in the position where Drew is on a roll and is doing exceptionally well, he’s turning heads at every step. The reason for me wanting him to bag the title is not mere friendship; I genuinely believe it’s the sensible move from a business point of view,” noted Hardy.

Discussing the potential implications of a defeat for Priest, Hardy alluded, “Surely not. Once you step into the champion’s shoes, it raises your profile considerably. Damian Priest’s victory was monumental, a laurel that will forever adorn his record. It’s a stepping stone, allowing him to build credibility and worth. I’m convinced that when Damian Priest is set to reclaim the world title, he will hold an even more significant position. He will have a higher value because he has used this phase as a springboard to enhance himself professionally. At present, he’s gotten a significant boost from winning the title. The subsequent time he captures this title, he will be a wrestler so accomplished, so popular and so mainstay, with so much weight backing him that he will, in fact, boost the value of the world title,” Hardy explained.
