In a recent episode of the “Lightweights Podcast,” American professional wrestler Brian Cage from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) spoke about the possible plans for his wife, Melissa Santos, to return to wrestling.
Here are a few notable conversations from the podcast:
When talking about the potential return of Melissa Santos to the wrestling ring, Cage said, “To be honest, I think she might. We’ve grappled a couple of times at Bar Wrestling events, and it was really enjoyable. Unfortunately, she suffered an ACL injury during training for her second bout. It was astounding how quickly she rebounded. Personally, I’d be thrilled to see her wrestle once more. I’ve often told her that it’s not good to end her wrestling journey with an injury, but it’s still questionable whether she would.”
Regarding Cage’s determination to overcome past injuries, he shared, “The way I see it, if I was hurt while doing something, I would want to conquer that obstacle. For instance, if I got injured while casually riding a BMX bike, my first thought would be, ‘I need to clear that jump and nail the landing next time.’ So, that’s why I frequently say to her, ‘You should at least wrestle one more match.’ I’d love to see her participate in a match again….I remember having this thought where if we could replicate something similar to the dynamic between (Alberto) Del Rio and his ring announcer, Jesus Rodriguez it would be terrific. However, that gimmick might be a bit outdated now. But I’m certain we’ll get to do a lot more fun things together, and I’ve noticed that she’s been eager to return to action too.”
