During a recent episode of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T gave his views on Liv Morgan’s victory over Becky Lynch for the WWE Women’s World Championship at WWE King & Queen of the Ring, 2024, held last weekend.
Here are some key comments from the podcast:
Booker T’s take on Liv Morgan’s WWE Women’s World Title victory: “It came as a surprise to me. I didn’t see it coming. However, Liv Morgan is a versatile player. She’s always prepared and sets herself up for victory. It’s clear that Liv Morgan has a firm belief in herself every time she steps onto the stage. When she took a break and returned, we saw a changed Liv Morgan. These small details matter, and Liv Morgan embodies that aspect. Success in this industry doesn’t always come to the best performer. Sometimes, you become victorious because you’re the last woman standing. I’m serious. I’d like to add that I’ve been in Liv Morgan’s shoes where I wasn’t the anticipated champion, but I managed to find my way to the title, thanks to hard work and dedication. That’s what Liv Morgan has accomplished. She didn’t earn the championship because she was prefered but because of her sheer dedication and the efforts she puts behind the scenes.”
When asked if he ever felt like he was designated to be the man, Booker stated, “No. Initially, when I bagged the Television Championship, it was because Rick Martel didn’t come prepared. So the officials decided to get the title off Disco Inferno and decided that I should win for the night.
Even when I clinched the world title, people had doubts. Vince Russo was the only person rooting for me. Injuries are common, and sometimes your name moves up in the list purely due to attrition. For instance, when The Radicalz parted ways with WCW, I found myself moving up in the ranks. I was aware of these dynamics. Sometimes, that’s how it turns out for some people. Is it right or fair? Life doesn’t work that way.”
