In a recent episode of the podcast “Wrestling with Freddie,” Swerve Strickland shared intriguing news regarding an upcoming documentary. This documentary will shed light on his inspiring journey of becoming the AEW World Champion. Strickland mentioned that since AEW Worlds End 2023 in December, a dedicated film crew has been following his journey consistently.
He remarked, “A documentary series is coming out of a whole series from me becoming the first African-American AEW World Champion filmed by the Lucas Brothers. [They’re] Terrific guys. They were there in Dynasty in St. Louis, they’ve been there at Worlds End, they’ve been there at Revolution, they’ve been non-stop since Full Gear. We’re still moving, we’ve still got a lot of narratives to share.”
On another recent episode of the podcast “Insight,” Max Caster discussed his fresh approach of referencing and taking shots at WWE via his raps. He acknowledged the potential pitfalls and advantages of his approach, referring to it as a double-edged sword.
A significant example of this technique was when Caster referred to Buddy Matthews’ personal relationship with WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley, which garnered a great deal of attention.
Expressing his thoughts on the matter, Caster stated, “That’s a double-edged sword, because you can get them on some things and it’ll be a good burn but you’re also shining more light on their product which they don’t need it… At a certain point you know, people would say, ‘Hey, stop doing that,’ and I listened. I really strive not to do it anymore because it just puts more spotlight on their product and not ours; it demotes us to a second rate. Vince McMahon was referred to by me, I believe, for the first time when any sort of allegations came out. When he retired I mentioned him and that was perceived as news, which in my opinion is more significant than me saying their TV show did this or that, it’s drastically different.”
