During a recent episode of his podcast “1 Of A Kind”, WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam shared some intriguing tales from a tumultuous WWE tour in Japan.
Here are some noteworthy excerpts from the podcast:
Discussing the journey, Van Dam mentioned, “It was a trip to Japan with WWE and we had gotten alerts of an approaching tropical storm. Despite this, we plowed right into the storm as we landed. In addition, we experienced an earthquake during the short trip. Interestingly enough, while heading back home, our plane was struck by lightning. A series of unbelievable incidents in a row.”
Speaking about his reaction to the lightning strike, he reminisced, “I was under the impression that we had landed and that we had been hit by a moving truck. That’s exactly what the impact felt like. As I was just waking up, I didn’t associate the jolt to us being 35,000 feet above the ground and instead thought we were on the runway. It was only after the captain addressed us saying, ‘Everyone, please remain calm. The plane experienced a slight lightning strike which isn’t an uncommon occurrence’ did I realize the gravity of the situation. Upon hearing this, Paul’s reaction was an astonished, ‘OH MY GOD!’”
