We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Billy Reil, a former wrestler who was a regular in JAPW during the late 1990s.
Pwinsider is reporting that Reil passed away earlier today at the age of 44 following a series of health issues over the past year. The details of his passing have not been disclosed.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Reil was a wrestling prodigy. He embarked on his professional journey in May 1995, just a month shy of his 16th birthday, with a match against his close friend Trent Acid.
Despite leaving his college training, Reil’s passion for wrestling never waned. He continued to make his mark in the wrestling world, competing for JAPW, the NWA’s New Jersey territory, and more.
Reil’s time in JAPW was particularly fruitful, with him clinching the JAPW Light Heavyweight Championship three times and the JAPW Tag Team Championship once, alongside Acid.
Reil continued to work regularly until 2009 and held titles in ISPW, JCW, and USA Pro. His most recent match was in 2016 at JAPW Homecoming, competing in a battle royal.
On behalf of everyone here on eWn, we express our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and fans of Billy Reil.
