Bully Ray Opens Up About The Rock Potentially Dethroning Cody Rhodes

On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray shared his perspective on The Rock potentially defeating Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Ray also commented on the upcoming 2024 WWE Draft, urging WWE to send undrafted talent to NXT.

The WWE Draft kicks off on Friday, April 26, on SmackDown and concludes on Monday, April 29, on RAW.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On the next phase of The Rock as The Final Boss in WWE: “I’m looking forward to this next phase for The Rock because ya know, whenever the bad guy gets defeated in the movie, the bad guy always goes and regroups and comes back stronger, a la The Empire Strikes Back. You know, Luke and the Rebels blew up the Death Star but Vader comes back strong in Empire, that’s what I’m looking for from The Rock.”

On The Final Boss potentially beating Cody Rhodes to win the title: “I would not even mind The Rock taking that strap off of Cody and making Cody chase again … I don’t believe that Cody needs to have some kind of credible long run a la Roman or anybody else. Cody’s story was that of the underdog who fought through, who fought the Final Boss who overcame the Final Boss and finally Roman Reigns … I have no problem with Rock coming in and defeating Cody if Rock’s going to stick around right and at least do some business with the WWE, not just disappear.”

On the Draft: “I hope that they take the talent that they’re not necessarily utilizing on a weekly or a bi-weekly or a monthly basis on the main roster, and they put them in NXT and utilize them a little bit more properly. I think you can balance out NXT even better with the use of some veteran talent, and I think they’ve been doing a good job as it is.”

The Rock’s Potential Victory Over Cody Rhodes and Bully Ray’s Thoughts on the WWE Draft

In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray shared his perspective on the possibility of The Rock defeating Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Ray also expressed his thoughts on the upcoming 2024 WWE Draft, suggesting that undrafted talent should be sent to NXT.

The WWE Draft is set to kick off on Friday, April 26, on SmackDown and will conclude on Monday, April 29, on RAW. This event allows for a reshuffling of talent between the two main roster shows, providing fresh storylines and opportunities for both established and emerging superstars.

Regarding The Rock’s potential victory over Cody Rhodes, Ray expressed excitement for the next phase of The Rock’s character. He compared it to the classic movie trope where the villain regroups and comes back stronger, citing “The Empire Strikes Back” as an example. Ray believes that The Rock’s defeat at the hands of Cody Rhodes could lead to an even more formidable comeback.

Ray further stated that he wouldn’t mind seeing The Rock take the championship from Cody Rhodes, as it would add an interesting dynamic to Cody’s character. He believes that Cody doesn’t necessarily need a long and credible title reign like Roman Reigns or other top stars. Instead, Cody’s story has been that of an underdog who fought through adversity and eventually overcame the Final Boss. Having The Rock defeat Cody would allow for a fresh narrative where Cody has to chase after the title once again.

However, Ray emphasized that if The Rock were to defeat Cody, it would be crucial for him to stick around and continue doing business with WWE. Ray expressed his desire for The Rock to have a more substantial presence in the company rather than disappearing after a single match.

Shifting gears to the WWE Draft, Ray shared his hopes for the utilization of undrafted talent. He suggested that WWE should send these talents to NXT, where they can be properly utilized on a more regular basis. Ray believes that NXT could benefit from the inclusion of veteran talent, as it would help balance out the roster and provide valuable experience to the younger stars.

Ray commended WWE for their current efforts in utilizing NXT effectively but believes that there is still room for improvement. By incorporating undrafted talent and veteran superstars into NXT, Ray believes that the brand can reach even greater heights.

As the WWE Draft approaches, fans eagerly anticipate the potential surprises and shake-ups that will occur. Whether The Rock will defeat Cody Rhodes and how the undrafted talent will be utilized in NXT remains to be seen. Nevertheless, the wrestling world is buzzing with excitement for the future of WWE.
