At the AEW Dynasty media scrum, Swerve Strickland discussed the new stars coming into AEW and how he maintains his spot in the company.
As the face of the brand, Strickland wants to build the company up. He said,
“Huge. It’s easy to find ways to feel like that’s a threat to you guys, to us, to the locker room. It’s an easy way, but it’s just like, ‘Alright, this is happening. We have to do something more. We have to push, create, innovate.’ We have to start really grinding our gears because this is a constantly moving. It’s a never ending Rubix cube, this industry is, and it will eat you alive if you can’t figure out one side of it. It will eat you alive trying to figure it out. These people coming in, these are people that maybe you want to build a team with. Maybe these are people that you don’t want to fight against. Maybe we can start building with them instead of looking at them as trying to beat them out. I look at things differently. There are others ways around it rather than the obvious of ‘this guy is coming to take my spot. This woman is coming to take her spot.’ Maybe there is another way and maybe AEW is offering that other way to get things done. Worth looking into.”
Swerve Strickland, one of the prominent stars in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), recently shared his thoughts on the influx of new talent joining the company. During a media scrum at the AEW Dynasty event, Strickland emphasized the importance of embracing these new stars and finding ways to collaborate with them rather than viewing them as threats.
As the face of AEW, Strickland understands the need to constantly push boundaries and innovate in order to stay ahead in the highly competitive wrestling industry. He acknowledged that it is easy to feel threatened by the arrival of new talent, but instead of seeing them as rivals, he believes in exploring opportunities to work together and build a stronger team.
Strickland compared the wrestling industry to a never-ending Rubik’s Cube, constantly evolving and challenging those who fail to adapt. He stressed the importance of finding different approaches and solutions rather than resorting to the obvious notion of someone coming to take his or her spot.
The wrestler’s perspective on this matter reflects a refreshing mindset within AEW. Rather than fostering a cutthroat environment where everyone is vying for the top spot, Strickland suggests that AEW offers an alternative approach to achieving success. By embracing collaboration and teamwork, AEW aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment for its talent.
Strickland’s comments also shed light on the company’s commitment to nurturing new talent and providing opportunities for growth. Instead of solely focusing on individual success, AEW encourages its wrestlers to explore different avenues for advancement within the organization.
This approach aligns with AEW’s overall mission of building a strong brand and establishing itself as a major player in the wrestling industry. By fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, AEW aims to differentiate itself from other promotions and offer a unique experience for both its wrestlers and fans.
As AEW continues to expand its roster with new stars, Strickland’s perspective serves as a reminder that success can be achieved through teamwork and a willingness to explore alternative paths. By embracing this mindset, AEW hopes to create a thriving wrestling community that supports and uplifts its talent, ultimately leading to the continued growth and success of the company.
