All Elite Wrestling is still looking to expand its roster despite making several high-profile, high-dollar signings in recent memory.
March 2024 saw Will Ospreay have his first match under an AEW contract while Kauchika Okada and Mercedes Mone would officially join the promotion.
On a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer dismissed the notion that these massive signings mean AEW won’t be signing anyone new for a while. He said,
“I know that AEW is looking at people whose contracts are up. Whether they get anyone I don’t know, but they’re definitely looking.
“Sometimes you think that they made this big, big investment with Okada, Ospreay and Mercedes and maybe they’re not looking for other people, but they still are.”
Okada and Ospreay were both victorious at the recent AEW Dynasty pay-per-view event. Mercedes Mone is set to challenge for the AEW TBS Championship at Double or Nothing 2024.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) continues to make waves in the professional wrestling industry as it looks to expand its already impressive roster. Despite recently signing high-profile talents such as Will Ospreay, Kauchika Okada, and Mercedes Mone, AEW is not slowing down in its pursuit of new talent.
In March 2024, Will Ospreay had his first match under an AEW contract, showcasing his incredible skills and athleticism to the delight of fans. This signing was a significant coup for AEW, as Ospreay is widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world.
Joining Ospreay in AEW are two other notable signings: Kauchika Okada and Mercedes Mone. Okada, a legendary Japanese wrestler, brings his immense talent and experience to the promotion. His presence adds even more star power to AEW’s already stacked roster. Mercedes Mone, on the other hand, is a rising star in the women’s division. Her signing further solidifies AEW’s commitment to showcasing top-tier women’s wrestling.
Despite these high-profile signings, there have been speculations that AEW may not be actively seeking new talent for the time being. However, renowned wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer debunked these rumors on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer confirmed that AEW is indeed looking at wrestlers whose contracts are up, indicating that the promotion is still on the lookout for fresh talent.
Meltzer stated, “I know that AEW is looking at people whose contracts are up. Whether they get anyone, I don’t know, but they’re definitely looking.” He further emphasized that AEW’s recent investments in Okada, Ospreay, and Mone do not mean they have halted their search for new additions to the roster.
The recent AEW Dynasty pay-per-view event showcased the talents of Okada and Ospreay, as both emerged victorious in their respective matches. This further solidifies their status as key players in AEW’s future plans. Additionally, Mercedes Mone is set to challenge for the AEW TBS Championship at the highly anticipated Double or Nothing 2024 event.
AEW’s commitment to expanding its roster demonstrates the promotion’s ambition to provide fans with a diverse and exciting lineup of talent. With the addition of Ospreay, Okada, and Mone, AEW has proven its ability to attract top-tier wrestlers from around the world. As the wrestling landscape continues to evolve, AEW remains at the forefront, constantly searching for new stars to elevate their product to even greater heights.
